How do I use the 404 reports?

To use this report you must

  1. 1st select a site you would like to review.
  2. The report will then display the current month.
  3. If you would like to select a different report, select it from the "Select a Report" menu.
  4. The report is split into two areas...
    • The Page that is missing as the title
    • Then underneath are all the reports of pages that have that link on their site. These links also have the date and time that it was reported.
  5. Since these reports only show pages submitted by users, it gives a good indication the popularity of the missing link.

Why are there so many 404s?

The underlying reason we have 404: Missing Pages on sites is due to one of the following reasons:

  1. Site owner typed the wrong link in the 1st place.
  2. The page linked to was changed:
    • The page may have been deleted
    • The page was renamed
    • The site may have undergone a Re-Designed and pages were moved.
