5. Windows 7 Migration   [Thu, 08 Oct 2009 15:06:05 +0000]

Microsoft has released to manufacturing the Windows 7 Operating System.  This Operating System will be the successor to Vista.  The expected availability of this new Operating System is October 22, 2009.  College of Engineering students are able to obtain the released version of Windows 7 (32 or 64 bit) now at no cost through their MSDNAA membership.

There are many topics to consider if you are thinking about migrating to Windows 7 from your current Operating System (Windows XP or Windows Vista).  Migration may be a simple upgrade from your existing Operating System leaving all your applications software products and data intact or it may be a complete forklift requiring you to re-install all your applications software products and to back up all your data.

Read our article on Windows 7 and the OS Migration Guide to learn how to prepare for the migration process.
