Former Charlotte 49ers golf standout Trevor Murphy tied for 18th in the second qualifying stage of PGA Tour Qualifying School to earn a spot in the Q School Final stage. The final stage will be held Dec. 2-7 at Bear Lakes C.C. in West Palm Beach, Fla.

The Charlotte 49ers (1-2) behind a season-high 27 points from Aysha Jones and a 47 point offensive second half outburst defeated Appalachian State (1-1), 74-57, on the road.
4. W. Volleyball. Charlotte Volleyball Outlasted by Xavier 3-1 at Atlantic 10 Championships   [Fri, 20 Nov 2009 20:00:01 EST]
The sixth-seeded Charlotte 49ers and third-seeded Xavier Musketeers found themselves in a dogfight, with Xavier winning 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-16) to start the 2009 Atlantic 10 Volleyball Championships at the Frericks Center in Dayton, Ohio. Charlotte finishes the year 15-17.
5. M. Golf. Nagy Heads to All-America Classic For Third Straight Year   [Fri, 20 Nov 2009 15:10:55 EST]
The field has been set for the 35th annual Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic and for the third straight year the field includes Charlotte 49ers standout Corey Nagy. Nagy, a three-time honorable mention all-America, has participated in the event the last two years. In addition to the individual tournament, the event includes a Titleist Long Drive Contest and a PING Putting contest, both of which Nagy has won in the past.
6. M. Soccer. Charlotte Ties UNCW 1-1; Seahawks Advance in Penalty Kicks   [Thu, 19 Nov 2009 22:30:21 EST]
Penalty were the deciding factor in the showdown between intrastate squads with UNC-Wilmington (14-2-5) advancing to the second round with a 4-1 advantage on penalty kicks over Charlotte (11-3-6) after the game ended in a 1-1 tie after double overtime. Charlotte's Adam Gross scored first in the game with his 28th minute strike, while Daniel Roberts added a goal for UNCW in the 81st minute to tie the game and send it into extra periods.

9. M. Soccer. Adam Gross Named First-Team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American   [Wed, 18 Nov 2009 12:55:31 EST]
Charlotte 49ers men's soccer senior midfielder Adam Gross was just named first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American. Gross, who was a third-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American last season, joins Jim Kunevicius (1996-97) as the only two student-athletes in the program's history to earn multiple Academic All-American honors.
10. Softball. 49er Softball Adds Four to the 2011 Roster   [Wed, 18 Nov 2009 12:19:05 EST]
The Charlotte 49ers softball program and head coach Aimee DeVos announced the signing of four players to national letters-of-intent for the 2011 season. The student-athletes that will be joining the Niners squad are Chelsea Ingersoll of Charlotte, N.C., Jalisa Rock of Montebello, Calif., Tess Swing of Lexington, N.C. and Katie Watkins of Knightdale, N.C.

A standout for the Charlotte 49ers Cross Country team, Adu Dentamo was named to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team yesterday. Dentamo, a senior Electrical Engineering Technology major, was one of six A-10 runners selected to the team and the sixth 49er to be selected for the honor since 2005.

The #9/#8 Duke Blue Devils jumped out to an early 17-4 lead and never looked back in handing Charlotte its first loss, 101-59, in the second round of the DICK'S Sporting Goods NIT Season Tip-Off.

Beam, who was a second-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American last season, earned first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American honors this season.

Charlotte 49ers women's basketball's freshman forward Jennifer Hailey (Marshville, NC/Forest Hills HS) was awarded the first Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week award for the 2009-10 season for her performance at East Carolina last Friday.
