A standout for the Charlotte 49ers Cross Country team, Adu Dentamo was named to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team yesterday. Dentamo, a senior Electrical Engineering Technology major, was one of six A-10 runners selected to the team and the sixth 49er to be selected for the honor since 2005.

Adu Dentamo and Amanda Goetschius picked up NCAA All-Region honors today at the NCAA Southeast Region meet at E. P. Tom Sawyer State Park. For Dentamo, the senior placed 25th picking up his second-straight all-region honors by running the 10k course in 31:06, while Goetschius also picked up her second straight all-region honors by placing 14th with a time of 20:55 in the 6k race.
3. XC Continues Championship Season with NCAA Southeast Region Meet   [Wed, 11 Nov 2009 14:11:35 EST]
The Charlotte 49ers cross country team travels to Louisville, Ky. this weekend for the NCAA Southeast Region meet on Saturday at 10 a.m. at E.P Tom Sawyer State Park. The Niners will try and qualify runners for the NCAA Championship on Nov. 23 in Terre Haute, Ind. At last year's race two 49ers claimed all-region honors as Amanda Goetschius and Adu Dentamo took home the honors, Charlotte's first since 2005.

After competing in the Atlantic 10 Championships on Saturday Oct. 31, the Charlotte cross country teams were once again ranked in the NCAA Division I Cross Country Southeast Regional Rankings released yesterday by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The Charlotte 49ers women's cross country team took runner-up honors for the second consecutive year at the Atlantic 10 Championship, while the men's team finished in seventh place. Amada Goetschius was Charlotte's top finisher by taking second place for the women and Adu Dentamo took fourth place for the men. The championship meet was dampened by a course that was extremely muddy due to large amount of rain in the St. Louis area during the week.

The Charlotte 49ers Cross Country teams will travel to St. Louis, Mo. for the 2009 edition of the Atlantic 10 Championship, where Adu Dentamo and Amanda Goetschius will look to defend their crowns as A-10 individual champions as well as help Charlotte to its first conference title since 2002. Last year, the women's squad came close by finishing second in the meet, while the men claimed fourth place.

Amanda Goetschius was named the Atlantic 10 Cross Country Performer of the Week, announced today, after her 26th place finish at the NCAA Pre-Nationals. Goetschius took the top honors for Charlotte at the race by pacing the 49ers to a 24th place finish in a field that consisted of 19 of the top 30 nationally ranked teams in the nation in the day's two races.

The Charlotte cross country teams saw some movement in their positions in the NCAA Division I Cross Country Southeast Regional Rankings released today by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The women's team jumped from 11th in last week's poll to 10th after a strong showing at the NCAA Pre-Nationals, while the men dropped two spots from 12th to 14th in the poll.

The reserves for the Charlotte 49ers Cross Country team competed at the USC Upstate Invitational while the starters were competing at the NCAA Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute on Saturday. Four runners competed for the men's squad, while the women fielded a full squad of seven runners and came away with a fourth place finish.

The Charlotte men's and women's cross country team travels to the campus of Indiana State University for the NCAA Pre-Nationals Meet in Terre Haute, Ind., this weekend. The meet will feature 19 nationally-ranked squads for both the men's and women's race, while eight of the men's top ten teams will compete and seven of the women's top ten teams will run in the race.

Seven Charlotte 49er student-athletes garnered Atlantic 10 weekly honors today. Women's cross country junior Amanda Goetschius, men's golf senior Corey Nagy, women's soccer senior Hailey Beam and men's soccer sophomore Evan James all picked up A-10 Player of the Week Honors. While, women's cross country freshman Maria Ruiz, volleyball's Bianca Rouse and men's soccer Jennings Rex all took Rookie of the Week honors.
15. 49ers Sweep Charlotte Invitational; Dentamo Wins Men's Title   [Fri, 02 Oct 2009 19:44:07 EST]
The 49er Cross Country team swept the Charlotte Invitational as the men and women took home the team title behind the performances of five top-ten finishers by the Charlotte runners. Adu Dentamo claimed the men's individual title with a time of 24:13.7 in the 8K race, while Amanda Goetschius was the women's top finisher claiming second place with a time of 17:09.8 in the 5K race.
