The Charlotte 49ers softball program and head coach Aimee DeVos announced the signing of four players to national letters-of-intent for the 2011 season. The student-athletes that will be joining the Niners squad are Chelsea Ingersoll of Charlotte, N.C., Jalisa Rock of Montebello, Calif., Tess Swing of Lexington, N.C. and Katie Watkins of Knightdale, N.C.

Four tournaments and 32 home games highlight the 2010 schedule for the Charlotte 49ers softball team. Included in those home games are matchups with North Carolina State, UNC-Chapel Hill, St. John's and Seton Hall.

The Charlotte 49ers softball team wrapped up its 2009 fall exhibition season by splitting a doubleheader on Sunday with UNC Greensboro and Elon. The Niners opened the day by falling to UNCG before defeating Elon in a come-from-behind victory over the Phoenix in the seventh inning.

The 49ers softball team split a pair of games today at the D.L. Phillips Softball Diamond as they faced UNC Greensboro and Wingate University in a pair of exhibition games. Charlotte picked up a 2-1 victory over the Spartans in the first game before falling to Wingate in the second game 8-0.

The Charlotte 49ers softball team won a pair of exhibition games over the visiting Bulldogs of Wingate University on Sunday after the games were rescheduled from a rain-soaked Saturday. The 49ers won 1-0 in the first game and 8-2 in the second.

The Charlotte 49ers softball team opened their 2009 fall schedule this past Sunday as they travelled to the campus of UNC Greensboro for a pair of games. Head Coach Aimee DeVos and the Niners took on the host school and East Carolina, but were unable to come away with a victory in the opening weekend.

The 2009 Charlotte Softball slate was announced today as the 49ers will play eight exhibition games in the autumn months to tune up for the 2010 season. The Niners have six home games this season and play only two exhibitions away from D.L. Phillips Complex.

Every year, Diversity in Education honors student-athletes of ethnic origin and this year the Charlotte 49ers had 16 student-athletes from six sports honored on the Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars list.

After aiding the Charlotte 49ers softball team to a 33-16 record and a third place finish in the Atlantic 10, juniors Emily Jeffery and Serena Smith were joined by sophomore Tenaya Tucker on the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) All-State team. The All-State team is voted on by the Sports Information Directors in the state of North Carolina.

For her sensational season in the circle, junior pitcher Emily Jeffery has been named the Charlotte 49er softball team's Most Valuable Player for the 2009 season.

Juniors Serena Smith and Emily Jeffery were joined by sophomore Tenaya Tucker on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Mid-Atlantic Region First-Team list in voting conducted by the region's coaches.

With the softball season coming to a close with yesterday's loss against Saint Joseph's, senior Jenny Rumbles has posted her final blog of the year on Charlotte49ers.com. On Saturday, Rumbles took to the field for the Niners for the final time in her career. A solid four years with the 49ers ended for Rumbles as the Durham, N.C. native turned in career numbers during her senior campaign. Rumbles is slated to graduate in December with a degree in Elementary Education.
14. Softball Ends Season with a 3-0 Loss to Saint Joseph's in the Atlantic 10 Tournament   [Sat, 09 May 2009 14:45:22 EST]
In the bottom of the seventh, the Charlotte 49ers loaded up the bags as they looked to put together a late inning rally and propel themselves to the consolation final with Massachusetts later in the day. But, the Niner bats fell silent with the bags full as the squad was unable to overcome a three-run fourth from the Saint Joseph's Hawks as the 49ers fell by a 3-0 tally to end the season in today's Atlantic 10 tournament elimination game.
15. Softball Falls 2-0 to No. 24/20 Massachusetts in Semifinal Game   [Fri, 08 May 2009 17:48:25 EST]
Opportunities were plentiful for the Charlotte 49ers (33-15) softball team in today's semifinal game, but the # 24/20 Massachusetts Minutewomen (37-8) used back-to-back sixth inning homeruns to drop the Niners to the loser's bracket of the 2009 Atlantic 10 Softball Championships by a 2-0 tally.
